Words from the Chief

Change of Command Ceremonies FMSS Camp Pendleton - 23 April 2004. Welcome Aboard, Captain Schuyler! Wish I could have stayed on active duty long enough to work under your command.

Captain Wayne Osborne, MSC, USN C.O of 1st Dental Battalion, FMF PAC (in whites) and me and Captain Christopher L. Schuyler, MSC, USN. The caption is to read: Two of three Captains who actually followed the advice of the old chief when they were young pups (SLJO's) 20 plus years ago. And they still talk to me! The third Captain is Captain Bill Frank, MSC, USN who is the C.O. of the Medical Clinic Command at Annapolis. Anyone who has the opportunity to serve under any of these fine officers should relish it.

HMCS Kathy Lavine is SMDR aboard the USS John C. Stennis . She also decided to follow the old chief's advice when she was a new HM2 at FHOTC Camp Pendleton in '86. She and HMC Phil Poe are another fine example of the CPO community of which I am still so honored and proud to be a member of. The opportunity to once again put on my blues was greatly appreciated. (These blues are my original set when I made HMC in 1972. I even had dress khakis for a year until they went by the wayside. They should have been retained or at least come back again!
